Cleaning and conditioning ...
...... as well as the storage are a task of vital importance when it comes to handling grain. This is the core business of Schmidt-Seeger GmbH, Beilngries.
Owing to its state-of-the-art cleaning- and grading machines Schmidt-Seeger GmbH enjoys a good reputation in the industry. The mostly applied machine of that range is the exhaust air separator with its two cleaning processes: As far as screening is concerned big impurities (straw, stones clods of earth etc.) can be removed and the grain is sorted to the size of the corn. Air classification enables the separation of slight fractions. This is of particular importance as the destructive environmental toxins and mykotoxins occur especially in dust and husks. Schmidt-Seeger is also one of the world’s top manufacturers of indented cylinders, special separating machines for the removal of weed seeds and broken grain.
The requirements for a practical storage are manifold. Delicate natural products have to be stored under optimum conditions for healthy conservation. The storage warehouses of Schmidt-Seeger GmbH completely meet this standard. Our storage warehouses fulfil the following attributes: Flexible uses, short construction periods, partial- and full automation of mechanical equipment, cost-effective investments and low floor loading. In combination with conveying systems and conditioning technology our flat storage systems are an interesting perspective in the grain industry – with all technical possibilities also provided in tower silos. Steel silos are characterised by a low net weight and for grain storage they are a cost-effective alternative. This kind of storage is particularly used for grain silos, loading cells or dryer pre-cells and dryer reception cells. Schmidt-Seeger corrugated sheet metal and steel paneled silos are a convincing choice, wherever particularly rapid assembly, low capital cost and simple foundations are vital.

Modern mechanical handling equipment is today indispensable for the processing of grain. Attributes such as reliability, safety and profitability are generally decisive considerations. Whether elevators, belt conveyors, trough chain conveyors or screw conveyors are concerned, plant operators around the world are increasingly deciding in favour of conveying systems "Made by Schmidt-Seeger".
The quality of the stored grain is affected by a number of factors but there are effective measures for storage to avoid this problem.
To minimise the growth of mould the moisture content of stored grain must not exceed max. 14 – 15%. Normally the grain is harvested below this value. If this is not possible due to bad weather conditions a final drying process is necessary. For maize with a moisture content of more than 30%, such a drying process is necessary anyway. Schmidt-Seeger offers several types of drying plants specially suited for the varying customer’s requirements. The new model "Eco Dry" is especially economical and achieves high capacities due to the integrated thermal insulation.
Each storage of grain involves a biological degradation of the substance. Furthermore exists the risk of a growth of deleterious insects. If the storage temperature is reduced below 8°C both processes can be almost completely stopped. For this purpose fresh or rather cooled air is blown through the grain buffer area. The aeration fans and grain chillers necessary for this process are included in the Schmidt-Seeger product portfolio as well.
